One of two statues of Greek goddess Hebe at the Athens Water Treatment Plant. This one located in the secure inner sanctum has generated local controversy. Some feel the statue should be moved to a location more accessible to the public because of its historical value. The statue is reputed to be 125 years old and to have originally stood in front of the Athens County Courthouse where it fell into a state of disrepair. It was restored and moved to the more protective environment of the water plant around 1980.
The goddess of youth and the cupbearer of the gods seems blissfully unaware of the controversy.
